Laws
For those not yet aware, Bill C-21 came to amend the Criminal Code of Canada since April 2004. Its goal? Facilitate criminal prosecutions against employers as a result of serious accidents if the measures were not taken to protect the health and safety of the workers. Bill C-21 directly addresses deficiencies in OSH. Thus, any person responsible for directing work must take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of his workers and the public. The lawsuits could affect all stakeholders involved, the administrator, supervisors, subcontractors, and even employees who have been negligent.
